AI training for finance professionals in London
By Riz Pabani on 05-Sept-2026

Your bank said no AI tools. That's not the whole story.
If you work in compliance, risk, or controls at a financial services firm in London, you've probably been told not to use ChatGPT for work. Here's what that rule actually means, and what you can safely do anyway.
Where most senior finance people are right now
You know AI is changing how your work gets done. You've read the same headlines everyone has. Maybe you've used ChatGPT at home to plan a holiday or rewrite an awkward email.
But at your desk, it's different. There's an NDA. There's a policy. IT sent round a note saying "no consumer AI tools" and left it there. So you've parked the whole thing, half-convinced you're missing something and half-worried you'll get it wrong.
You're not being cautious for no reason. Pasting a live deal, a client file, or a draft regulatory submission into a free chatbot is a genuine problem. But "don't paste confidential data into the free version" is not the same rule as "AI is off-limits." Those two things have been collapsed into one, and it's holding back people who are exactly the ones who should understand this.
What you get from a session
A clear line between what's safe and what isn't. We go through what the enterprise versions of these tools actually do with your data versus the consumer ones, what counts as a controlled environment, and where your firm's policy probably already gives you more room than you think.
Your real work, not a recipe demo. Bring something you actually do: a policy review, a SAR narrative, a KYC pack, a control-testing write-up, a board memo. We work on that. By the end you'll have a workflow you can use at your desk the next morning.
One executive director at a tier 1 investment bank used his session to build a trade entry platform. Not a mock-up. A working one, described in plain English and shaped entirely by his own knowledge of how a trade should actually be captured. No code, no developer, no ticket in a queue somewhere. That's the part people don't expect: the expertise you already have is the scarce bit, and now it's enough on its own.
Enough fluency to lead, not just follow. When AI comes up in your next team meeting or your firm's working group, you'll be the person who actually understands it, instead of the one nodding along.
How the 90 minutes works
It's one-to-one and confidential. No group, no recording shared anywhere, no slides you'll never look at again.
We start with the foundations: what these tools really are (I call them Autocomplete Machines, because that's closer to the truth than "artificial intelligence"), and why that mental model changes how you use them. Then we go straight to your work. You show me a task, we do it together, live. I'll show you where it's brilliant and where it produces confident nonsense, because knowing the second part is what keeps you safe.
You leave with the prompts we wrote, notes on what worked, and a setup you can actually use within your firm's rules.
Who this is for
Compliance, risk, and controls professionals at banks, asset managers, and insurers who want to use AI properly without breaching policy.
People at VP to MD level who are past the "what is ChatGPT" stage and want to get genuinely good, fast, on their own real work.
Anyone at a regulated firm who's been told "no AI tools" and suspects, correctly, that the real picture is more nuanced than that.
I've run sessions for people at tier 1 investment banks, digital asset firms and insurance specialists.
What it costs
A 90-minute one-to-one session is £599. For most people that's roughly a month of premium AI subscriptions, spent once, on learning to use them properly.
If you'd rather start smaller, there's the £199 AI Opportunity Map: a live 60-minute session where you tell me how your work runs and where the time goes, and together we map the jobs where AI actually saves you time — then build the biggest one live, on your own accounts, so you leave with it running.
Book a session
Book your 90 minutes. Pick a time that works, tell me what you do, and come with one real piece of work in mind.
Not sure it's right for you? Message me first. I'll tell you honestly whether a session would help or whether you'd be fine just reading a few things. I'm not here to sell you hype.
Common questions
Is it safe to use ChatGPT if I work in financial services?
It depends entirely on which version you use and what you put into it. The consumer free version and a properly configured enterprise setup are different things with different data handling. A lot of the blanket "no AI" advice doesn't make that distinction. We go through exactly where the line sits for your situation.
My firm has banned AI tools. Is this pointless?
No. Most policies are about consumer tools and confidential data, not about understanding the technology. Plenty of what we cover applies regardless, and it puts you in a stronger position when your firm does roll something out.
Do I need to prepare anything?
One real task you do at work, and your usual tools open. That's it. You don't need to install anything in advance.
What if I'm not technical?
Good. This isn't a coding session and there's nothing to code. If you can describe what you want in plain English, you can do this. That's rather the point.
Do I get anything to keep?
Yes. The prompts we write, notes on what worked, and the setup we land on, so you can carry on after the session.
Can I expense it?
Most people book this as personal professional development. You'll get a proper invoice. Whether your firm reimburses it is between you and them.
